The new Chairman of the NSIP Board, Prof. Venetsanopoulos, and the new
Vice-Chairman, Prof. Gabbouj, will take on their responsibilities
in these positions starting from the end of March 1999.
The first two years from the creation of the NSIP Board elapsed very
rapidly. We had a successful NSIP Workshop in Michigan organized by Prof.
Coyle in 1997, and the preparatory activities of the next Workshop in
Antalya this year are running smoothly. Also this Workshop is going
to be as successful as the previous ones. Moreover, NSIP'2001
(the first NSIP Workshop of the new millennium) has been already decided
to be held in Baltimore, organized by the University of Delaware.
Information about the activities of the NSIP community has been disseminated
by means of this NSIP web page. A brief report on the creation and the
scope of the NSIP Board has been published on the EURASIP Newsletter in May 1998.
As the first Chairman of the NSIP Board, I would like to thank all the colleagues
who gave me their cooperation during these two years. I would also give to
Prof. Venetsanopoulos and Prof. Gabbouj my best wishes for further successful
developments of the NSIP activities.
